Lyle Foster bags assist as Burnley eye EPL return

Lyle Foster was involved in the goals as Burnley secured another boost in their bid to get promoted to the Premier League.

The Clarets took on Hull City on Wednesday night, and picked up a 2-0 victory – their 17th win of the 2024/25 campaign.

The home side controlled the opening stages and broke the deadlock with just three minutes played when Foster controlled a cross-field pass and drove into the penalty box before laying the ball off for left-back Bashir Humphreys whose strike from outside of the box found the back of the net.

It was the South African's third assist of the season.

Burnley then added a second shortly after when Zian Flemming headed home a cross from Jaidon Anthony.

Foster, who played on the left wing once again, did not complete the game as he was substituted off during stoppage time.

Speaking after the game, Clarets boss Scott Parker was more than pleased with his team's display, as they secured a Championship record-breaking 10th straight clean sheet in the process.

"I'm really happy, I thought we were top tonight. I thought we were really good. We started the game really well, obviously an early goal really helped settle us a little bit and I thought from there we just went through the gears really," he said per the club's official website.

"I think it was (some of the best football played all season). I think it's fair to say the first-half was convincing," the Englishman added.

"I think I've probably been seeing that. I've seen it in training the last couple of weeks and I've seen it generally in our performances.
