Michel won't quit Morocco

The Moroccans were dumped out in the qualifiers having lost to hosts Ghana and Guinea.

A solitary win over tournament Namibia was not enough to put them in contention for qualification and in truth it never looked likely for Michel’s side.

Michel says he will not be leaving his post and that he is already looking towards sealing qualification for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

“I have a contract until 2010 to get Morocco to the World Cup finals,” he said, before revealing what he believed were underlying problems in Moroccan football.

“Moroccan clubs have to agree that the priority is training. We have to have players who can measure up to foreign players,” he said, possibly referencing the likes of the African Cup's star players Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o.

Michel has years of experience in international management, including stints with France and Cameroon. He took charge of Morocco in 2007.
