Teboho Moloi has questioned the treatment local coaches are being subjected to by Premier Soccer League clubs compared to their foreign colleagues.
The former Chippa United coach says he will never forget the day the club's chairman, Siviwe "Chippa" Mpengesi, promised him a lifetime contract on national television.
"When I was still playing, Cavin Johnson was already showing signs of becoming a coach," Moloi opens up to KickOff.
"What happened to him at Kaizer Chiefs could happen to any coach who is coaching a team that wants instant results.
"But let's not forget his pedigree, let's not forget he worked with Foppe De Haan. He had a hand in developing one of South Africa's best players in [Steven] Pienaar. That's why Kaizer Chiefs had earmarked him to be their Head of Development.
"It's very sad what is happening now in our football, up-and-coming South African coaches are being forced out of the game. This needs to be investigated," adds Moloi.
'Tebza', as he is fondly known, then narrates what happened to him at the Chilli Boys.
"I remember Chippa Mpengesi promising me a long-standing contract live on national television, and until today, nobody can put a finger on why I was sacked.
"I'm the only coach to put Chippa United in second position during a season. I'm the only one who did that out of the 40 coaches they [have] had so far. I'm the only one who has won the [PSL] Coach of the Month.
"Then you have a Benni McCarthy who had done so much in his coaching career. He had Moeneeb Josephs and Siyabonga Nomvete as assistants, they were doing well at AmaZulu, but where are they now?
"Now you have a Rulani Mokwena, he is doing well, but now you hear he is leaving Sundowns. What's happening to our upcoming coaches in our country?
"Uphi u [Where is] Shaun? Where is Shaun Bartlett? All this is happening while overseas-born coaches continue to be recycled by our clubs. They are being provided with support, confidence and financial backing, yet they are not bringing the changes.
"Fadlu Davids had to go on exile for him to realise his dream while Europeans are feeling at home here in South Africa.
"Morena Ramoreboli did well with our national team in the COSAFA [Cup], but he is nowhere to be found here at home. Instead, he's finding joy in Botswana.
"What is happening to us young coaches? Is it because we are not yes-men? We are now all leaving our country."
