My Welcome To The League Moment: I screamed when the flight took off

In our exciting feature My Welcome To The League Moment, KickOff sits down with former Tembisa Classic defender Calvin "Salter" Motloung.

Motloung says he will never forget how embarrassed he was when he boarded a flight for the first time in a professional football setup.

"My 'Welcome to the League' moment came during the Nedbank Cup," Motloung starts off.

"We were traveling to Cape Town to face Santos, and we were still in the lower division.

"It was my first time on a flight. I found myself standing there clueless and not knowing what was happening to me.

"we took our seats and relaxed.

"The problem started when the flight took off, the thought of asking for permission to get off even crossed my mind [laughs].

"I wanted to throw up, there was a time when I stood up and I was sweating everywhere.

"Imagine someone staying in Tembisa sitting inside a plane with white people, that was all new to me. And such things had to happen to me.

"I felt sick. But instead of throwing up, I screamed. Very loud! I couldn't hold myself together anymore.

"My teammates were holding me down. David Malatule grabbed me and kept me seated in my seat.

"We eventually arrived in Cape Town and it was my first night game ever and that, on its own, was another nightmare.

"Because of the flight experience, we lost that game. Santos gave us a good hiding that day.

"Every one of my teammates was now blaming the club for taking the flight option, saying we could have easily won that game if we traveled by road.
