Ncikazi: Stellies is a very good opponent, but...

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has outlined the team's approach to their crucial Betway Premiership encounter against a wounded Stellenbosch FC.

Bucs will be aiming to narrow the gap between themselves and runaway log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns when they take on Stellies at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday (19:30).

Steve Barker are smarting from their Nedbank Cup quarter-final defeat to Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend and will undoubtedly be looking to bounce back with a victory in the league.

Ncikazi is under no illusions about the task at hand.

"We are expecting a very tough match, one of the cup finals for our team as usual," he said.

"We just have to perform, we just have to fight for the points again. It's a very good opponent, but I'm confident that we will succeed.

"There is no easy match in the PSL, we have learned. We just have to analyse to the best of our capacity and give the conscience to our players, allow them to perform without fear and if we do that, we are confident that three points will be with Pirates," added the former African Wanderers star.

Victory could see Pirates narrowing the gap at the top to nine points, still with four games in hand, provided Sundowns lose to AmaZulu FC on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, third-placed Stellies need the win in order to escape from the chasing pack and to exert some pressure on the Soweto giants.
