Polokwane City target third division star

KickOff has learned that Betway Premiership club Polokwane City has discovered a promising player in the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League.

According to a source, the amateur side The Bees has agreed to transfer their top player, Mbongeni Patrick Ngcobo, to Rise and Shine at the end of the current campaign.

The Limpopo outfit eliminated The Bees in the last 32 stage of the Nedbank Cup, where the striker caught the eye of the PSL club.

"Ngcobo is originally from KwaMashu and is currently 32 years old. He is a striker who has played in the ABC Motsepe League throughout his career," the source told KickOff.

"He impressed a lot in The Bees' match against Polokwane City, and after the match, an arrangement was made for him to move to Polokwane.

"Polokwane City appreciated his strength and energy. He has pace, can easily bulldoze defenders, and is a powerful header of the ball.

"Out of 16 games, he scored 12 goals. In their league game yesterday, he scored two goals with his head. His body structure and style of play are very similar to that of Tshegofatso Mabasa from Orlando Pirates.

"He is an aggressive type of player whose only mission is to score goals."

The Humphrey Mlwane-coached side is currently in second place in the Motsepe League, with only a point separating them from leaders Middelburg United.
