Shumana, capped at all international junior levels and also having made a Bafana Bafana ‘debut’ in a practice match against Lesotho last year, will now stay with the club beyond 2010.
According to club spokesman Thabiso Mekuto, Shumana’s initial contract was scheduled to expire at the end of the current season.
“Shumana’s new contract was finalised today and he has added a further three years to his contract,” says Mekuto.
While Shumana was finalising his contract, youth international Thulani Serero was being promoted to the senior team where he has to fight his way into the playing squad.
Serero has been playing in Ajax’s reserve team which feeds the senior team and campaigns in the Vodacom League.
Congolese defender Dikilu Bageta has also committed to the Urban Warriors by agreeing to a further two-year deal.
Other players that have extended their contracts are Nazeer Allie (up to 2010), Brett Evans (2010), Clifford Ngobeni (2011), Granwald Scott and Franklin Cale and Nhlanhla Shabalala.
