Update on Jali's future

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Andile Jali is set to meet with his agent Mike Makaab to discuss and decide about his future in football.

The stocky midfielder is currently without a team after parting ways with Moroka Swallows in January this year.

AJ, as he is affectionately known, last played football on December 23 when Swallows visited Royal AM in a DStv Premiership match held at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

The encounter finished 0-0, before the Dube Birds fired most of their players after they had engaged in a strike over unpaid salaries.

The Matatiele-born player's future in football remains uncertain even though he has enlisted the services of a private fitness trainer to keep himself fit for the past two months.

"I think the person who knows Andile Jali's future in football is only the player himself. He is currently training by himself with the help of a private fitness trainer," revealed a source.

"His agent Mike Makaab is expected to fly to Johannesburg this week to meet with Jali and discuss his future."

Efforts to get Jali to comment about what lies ahead in his football career proved futile after he declined to grant this publication an interview.

However, KickOff.com understands he is still being owed a signing-on fee by Swallows, over and above other outstanding salaries.

"The issue of AJ and Moroka Swallows is still far from over. He is being owed a lot of money by Swallows, including his signing-on fee," added the source.
