Rwanda 0-2 Nigeria
Nigeria rekindled their qualification hopes to next year's FIFA World Cup finals courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Group C on Friday.
A star-studded Super Eagles saw Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey start, while Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fabrice Ntwari lined out for the host.
The Super Eagles were winless in Group C prior to the match and in the lower phases, whereas the host were in the upper tier.
However, a first -half brace from Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen guided the Super Eagles to a first win under new coach Eric Chelle and up and running in the group.
A date with the Warriors of Zimbabwe on Tuesday now awaits the Super Eagles as the qualifying stages enter the business end.
Burundi 0-1 Ivory Coast
African champions Ivory Coast enjoyed a positive resumption in their qualifying journey following a 1-0 win over Burundi and remained on top of Group F.
Elephants included star figures in Jean-Philippe Krasso, Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller, whilst former Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana spear-headed the host attack.
Haller stuck in well inside the opening-quarter and assisted OGC Nice forward Evann Guessand to rattle the net and make the breakthrough.
Burkina Faso 4-1 Djibouti
Burkina Faso bagged a second win in Group A and moved within two points off leaders Egypt following a 4-1 victory over Djibouti.
The bottom-placed visitors were out of sight from the get go as Josue Tiendrebeogo and Bertrand Traore gave the Stallions a solid footing at the break.
More danger set in after halftime with Mohamed Zougrana and Shakhtar Donetsk' Lassina Traore adding to the tally before Samuel Akinbinu nabbed a consolation from the spot.
Botswana 1-3 Algeria
Algeria strengthened their position at the top of Group G through commanding 3-1 victory over Botswana in Francistown.
Having edged Somalia in their last qualifying clash, the Zebras were on the ropes against the fancied Dessert Foxes who hit the opener before halftime through Amine Gouiri.
Further danger piled on after halftime with Mohamed Amoura extending the lead before Tebogo Kopelang gave the host some glimmer from the spot.
The full haul of points went to the North African giants as Amoura completed his brace and in the same vein closed out the encounter.
Ghana 5-0 Chad
Ghana resumed their qualifying journey in Group I emphatically and crushed a minnows Chad 5-0 to go two points clear at the top of the standings.
Big names in Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Inaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo set out the Black Stars starting stall.
Black Stars didn't take long to get going as Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo hit the opener after just two minutes played.
Athletico Bilbao striker Inaki Williams combined with Kingsley Schindler's assist and extended the deficit courtesy of a well-taken effort.
Leicester City forward and star man Jordan Ayew made it three with a finish from the penalty spot – thus giving the Black Stars a commanding tally at the interval.
