Ronaldo 'breaks' Saudi Arabia law

Having only recently made the shock move to Al Nassr, reports suggest that former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has already broken one of Saudi Arabia's laws.

The Portuguese forward was unveiled by his new club earlier this week after signing a deal that will reportedly make him the highest-paid player in football history.

While the superstar received a hero's welcome from thousands in the Middle Eastern country on Tuesday, he could now find himself in hot water in his new hunting ground.

According to a report from Spanish publication EFE, Ronaldo has already broken a law in his new home.

The ex-Real Madrid talisman and his partner, Georgina Rodríguez, are not yet married, and Saudi Arabia's laws state that it is illegal for a man and woman to live under the same roof if they have not yet tied the knot.

It is believed, though, that the infringement will be overlooked, with speculation suggesting that Ronaldo is set to play a key role in the nation's bid for the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Egypt and Greece.

"Although the laws still prohibit cohabitation without a marriage contract, the authorities have begun to turn a blind eye and do not persecute anyone," an unnamed Saudi Arabian lawyer said, per Football Espana.

"Of course, these laws are used when there is a problem or a crime."
