It is now reported that former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is the favourite to land a new job at one of the clubs who are set to face Mamelodi Sundowns at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Ten Hag has been without a job since he was sacked by United in October 2024, where he was in charge for 128 games, according to Transfermarkt.

It now appears that the Dutchman may not have to wait for too long for his next gig, as it is reported that he is the frontrunner for the newly available Borussia Dortmund job.
On Wednesday morning, the German club announced the sacking of their manager Nuri Sahin following the club's 2-1 defeat to Bologna in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
In a statement on BVB's official website, the club's sports director Lars Ricken said: "We value Nuri Sahin and his work very much, we hoped for a long-term collaboration and until the end we had hoped that we could achieve a sporting turnaround together.
"After four defeats in a row, due to only one win in the last nine games and currently tenth in the Bundesliga table, we have unfortunately lost faith in being able to achieve our sporting goals in the current constellation.
"This decision hurts me personally, but it was unavoidable after the game in Bologna."
According to talkSPORT, Ten Hag is increasingly expected to become Sahin's replacement at Dortmund, with the move having been mooted for a few weeks in German media.
Another report by Tribuna.com claims that Ten Hag's decision to join Dortmund now only hinges on two factors, one being his request for a long-term contract.
Another factor is said to be that the 54-year-old wants the clearance of his severance pay by his former employers, United.
Ten Hag's last stint in Germany came between 2013 and 2015, where he served as the head coach of the Bayern Munich reserve team.
In the event that he successfully takes over at Signal Iduna Park, Ten Hag is likely to be in charge when Dortmund face Sundowns, Ulsan Hyundai FC, and Fluminense in the group stages of the Club World Cup later this year.
