A Bulgarian professional football club Arda Kardzhali had to issue an apology after grieving for the club's former player Petko Ganchev before realizing he was still alive.
Before their First Professional Football League match against Levski Sofia on Sunday, players from both teams lowered their heads, showing respect for Ganchev as they were led to believe that he had died.

While the game was still in progress, Kardzhali, who are currently in fifth place in the league standings discovered that Ganchev was not deceased.
Subsequently, Kardzhali released an apology statement on their Facebook page following the incident.
"The management of PFC Arda would like to express a huge apology to the former Arda player Petko Ganchev and his relatives after the club received wrong information about his death," the club wrote on Facebook.

"We wish Petko Ganchev many more years of good health and to enjoy the success of Arda."
The post appeared to have been deleted by Monday evening.
Details still remain unclear regarding how the club received false information about Ganchev's supposed passing.
