Bale 'offered' blockbuster return to football

Former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has now seemingly been offered a blockbuster return to football after retiring from the sport back in January.

The 33-year-old called time on his professional playing career earlier this year following Wales' disappointing group-stage elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December.

The attacker was a key member of the Los Blancos squad during arguably their most successful era, in which the Spanish giants won three successive UEFA Champions League titles between 2015 and 2018.

After his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu in 2022, the former Tottenham Hotspur talisman had a short stint with United States outfit Los Angeles FC, helping the side clinch their first-ever Major League Soccer Cup trophy.

His stint in the US saw him rub shoulders with some big-name celebrities while seemingly pursuing a career in golf, having played in his first big tournament at the ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February

However, newly-promoted English Football League Two outfit Wrexham AFC, who have become popular around the world thanks to their famous co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and their blockbuster Netflix documentary series Welcome to Wrexham, have now seemingly made an attempt to get the player out of retirement just over three months after he hung up his boots.

Co-owner McElhenney took to Twitter to send a message to the former Dragons captain, saying: "Hey Gareth, let's play golf, where I totally won't spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season."

Movie star Reynolds, meanwhile, revealed he was a huge admirer of Bale last year.

Asked who he would choose between Lionel Messi and Ronaldo, the Deadpool star said he would choose Messi after his colleague named the Argentine as his choice, before going on to mention Bale.

"I was going to say the same thing," Reynolds said during an interview with Sports Illustrated.

"I do not sleep on Ronaldo. They're both unbelievable athletes. But I think I'd also take Messi.

"Gareth Bale wasn't an option, no?"
