In Africa: Mokwana wins title & Mailula scores

With South Africans in action around the continent this weekend, Cassius Mailula and Elias Mokwana both found the back of the net, with one winning silverware.

Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Athletic Club made it five wins in their last five league games to end Matchday 21 in second position, with the now sitting in second position, two points ahead of AS FAR and RCA Zemamra.

Mailula opened the scoring with a header in the 33rd minute, setting his side up to go on and record a convincing 5-1 victory in a Botola Pro 1 encounter on Sunday.

With the Red Castle going into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead, a plethora of goals came in the second half.

Mohamed Rayhi netted in the 51st minute, before the away side narrowed the advantage just eight minutes later. Mokwena's side, however, finished the game strongly by finding the back of the opposition net three times in the last ten minutes of the encounter.

New signing Samuel Obeng also got his name on the scoresheet, and will be hoping to do so on many more occasions before the season draws to a close.

Elsewhere on the continent, Esperance Sportive de Tunis took on Stade Tunisien in the final of the Tunisian Super Cup on Sunday.

After a tense first-half that saw neither side being able to break the deadlock, the Red and Yellow struck in the 59th minute.

A rapid counter-attack saw Achref Jabri find an unmarked Mokwana who maintained his composure to find the back of his net and his side a 1-0 lead.

That lead was ten doubled in the 84th minute when Mohamed Amine Ben Hamida fired a shot past the opposition goalkeeper to secure victory, and a trophy, for ES Tunis.
