January window 'angering' Al Ahly

Key figures at Al Ahly are reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated as questions mount over the club's handling of deals following Percy Tau's exit.

The Egyptian giants recently bid farewell to the South African attacker, who joined Qatar SC on a six-month deal, and the lack of reinforcements is said to have sparked discontent across the board.

According to Kooora, the frustration is not limited to the passionate fan base. Members of the board and the technical staff are also thought to be dissatisfied with the slow progress in securing new signings.

The Red Devils are set to face El-Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday with a makeshift squad, as injuries continue to plague the team.

The list of injured players includes key stars, such as: left-back Yahia Attiyat Allah, midfielder Karim Nedved, and attackers Karim Fouad, Reda Slim, and Taher Mohamed.

Meanwhile, questions persist over why the club has yet to finalise any significant January transfer deals.

"The primary reason for the delay in transfers is the lack of dollar liquidity at the club. As a result, the focus has shifted to securing loan deals with an option to buy," a source told Kooora

Despite the challenges, the Red Devils are said to be looking to bolster their squad by bringing in two foreign players and two local talents during the current window.

Head coach Marcel Koller is understood to have been vocal about the need for reinforcements, particularly in light of Tau's departure and the absence of key stars.

The Swiss tactician is believed to be targeting three foreign signings to strengthen the squad.

However, the delay in fulfilling these requests is claimed to have only added to the growing unrest among fans and management alike.
