Mourinho 'tells' new club to sign his ex-EPL star

Jose Mourinho has now reportedly told his new club to sign one of his ex-players from his time in England.

The Portuguese tactician, who was unveiled as the new Fenerbahce boss earlier this month, is seemingly determined to build the squad in his image by urging his new side to acquire the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to Turkish outlet Yeni Malatya

The 61-year-old is said to have handed a report to the club's hierarchy highlighting what the Dane could contribute to the side, and further justify why he would be the ideal fit for them.

The Super Lig outfit, meanwhile, have reportedly yielded to the former Real Madrid coach's request, with it suggested that the Sari Kanaryalar are set to begin the process of trying to secure the player's services.

It has also been claimed that the side's first step is to evaluate the current length of Hojbjerg's contract, which is set to expire in June next year, and his fee before making a move, while it is also believed that they are looking to make the deal happen as soon as possible.

The Denmark midfielder was brought to the Lilywhites from Southampton in 2020, during Mourinho's time at the London club's helm, and became an important player for the Portuguese.

The 28-year-old made 36 appearances in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign under Ange Postecoglou, but only eight of those were starts.

It is believed that Spurs understand the need to cash in on the defensive midfielder in order to prevent losing him for free when his contract comes to an end next year.
