Klopp: It was brutal for Mane...

With Sadio Mane having completed a move to Saudi Arabia, his former boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed what he thinks contributed to the attacker's unsuccessful stint at Bayern Munich.

The 31-year-old became Al Nassr's newest marquee signing on Tuesday night, bringing an end to what was a short and tumultuous time in Bavaria.

After a decent start to life at the Allianz Arena, scoring 11 goals prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, the Senegal talisman found the back of the net just once after returning from the leg injury that kept him out of the global showpiece.

He was also fined and suspended following a dressing-room punch on teammate Leroy Sane earlier this year, with it believed that the Bundesliga giants have been looking to move him on ever since.

Now, with the record Bundesliga champions having sold the attacker to the Middle East club captained by Cristiano Ronaldo, his former head coach at Liverpool, Klopp, has given his thoughts as to why Mane struggled in Germany.

"I don't know what went wrong, to be honest," the 56-year-old said, as per iMiaSanMia.

"I think Sadio left us on a high, in really good shape, world-class player, no shadow of a doubt.

"To fulfil your full potential I think everything has to fall in place pretty much.

"A bit of luck is helpful as well, and that was obviously not the case.

"A bad injury in a horrible moment, the World Cup was gone.

"We all knew that would have an influence, because Sadio is a very proud man, and that he couldn't lead his country at the WC was brutal for him."

Mane, who has been handed the No. 10 shirt at Al Nassr, will now be looking to rekindle the form that saw him win the 2022 CAF Men's Player of the Year award and come second for the Ballon d'Or last year at the Knights of Najd.
