Ex-LALIGA player set for 'trial' with Rulani's Wydad

A former LALIGA footballer is reportedly set to undergo a trial with Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Casablanca.

The Moroccan giants are planning to bolster the squad for the second half of the Botola Pro 1 season and the FIFA Club World Cup in June.

The Red Castle have already brought in defender Fahd Moufi as their first signing in the January transfer window, but they are now looking at the midfield options.

According to French-born midfielder Mickaël Malsa will undergo an assessment before the club make a decision on signing him.

The 29-year-old defensive midfielder is currently a free agent after parting ways with Spanish outfit Real Valladolid last year.

Malsa, however, is lacking a lot of match fitness, having last played a competitive fixture back in March 2024, which was one of the reasons Wydad decided against signing Lebogang Mothiba earlier this month.

The midfielder has experience in the Spanish top-flight after making 66 appearances for Levante and Real Valladolid.

The decision to grant a trial comes after the club were reportedly rejected by Nordin Amrabat, who officially signed for Championship side Hull City.
