The Sun states that the teammates thought it was a prank when the footballer was whisked away by the two officers.

"A lot of stars initially thought it was a prank when two uniformed officers strode on to the pitches during training. Everyone was in disbelief," a source told the Sun.

"Players were open-mouthed. No one was sure what was going on."

The player had been questioned for six hours and two phones were taken to examine if there was footage of the session.

The report added that player was released without any further action and re-joined his teammates for training on Friday ahead of the weekend's FA Cup action.
