Ronaldo: People can like Messi & Mardona, but I am...

Cristiano Ronaldo addressed the comparisons between himself and Lionel Messi, with the former claiming that he is the best player in football history.

Throughout their entire careers, the pair were always compared to one another as they very often found themselves going head to head for both team and individual honours.

The Argentine has won eight Ballon d'Or awards, while his Portuguese counterpart has won it on five occasions. Both players have achieved so much in their long, successful careers, with many torn between choosing which player is the greatest of all time.

Ronaldo, however, shared his very own opinion during an exclusive interview with Spanish television channel El Chiringuito

He admitted that while the pair have always been classed as bitter rivals, they have have a good rapport with one another.

"I have a very good relationship with Messi, I once acted as a translator at some awards. He always treated me well. Hopefully, we'll see our numbers again, but I see it as very difficult," he said.

While the admiration is evident, Ronaldo believes that he is a better player than the Inter Miami star.

"People could like Messi or Maradona, and I respect it, but I'm the most complete," the Al Nassr attacker stated.

"I am the best player in history. I haven't seen anyone better than me. I'm good with the headers, I'm a good free-kick taker, I'm quick, I'm strong, I jump a lot."

During the interview, the Portugal international revealed that he and Messi could have been teammates, as FC Barcelona were interested in signing him at one point.

"I could have signed for Barça when I was playing for Sporting Lisbon," Ronaldo said.

"I was with someone from the club and they wanted to sign me, but it didn't happen. They wanted to sign me that year and join them the following year. But Manchester wanted me for that year," he added.
