Ramovic denied silverware on Belouizdad debut

Sead Ramovic missed out on a chance to claim silverware on his debut for CR Belouizdad, who lost to MC Alger in the Algerian Super Cup.

Ramovic joined the Algerian side on Wednesday after parting ways with Tanzanian Premier League side Young Africans on Monday.

The German tactician, who only spent 81 days in charge of Yanga, was on the touchline for Saturday's Super Clash.

Alger raced into a two-goal lead in the first half through goals from Sofiane Bayazid and Ayoub Abdelloui.

Ramovic's side hit back in the 72nd minute after Aymen Mahious converted a penalty, before the same player sent the game to penalties after scoring the equaliser in the 88th minute.

South African striker Khanyisa Mayo managed to score his penalty in the shoot-out, while Naoufel Khacef and Mahious saw their spot-kicks saved as Alger triumph 4-3.

Ramovic will now turn his attention to the Ligue 1 campaign, where Belouizdad currently sit two points behind Alger in second spot.
