South African-born tycoon set to buy EPL giants?

With South African-born business tycoon Elon Musk reportedly interested in buying a top Premier League club, his father, Errol Musk, has now responded to the claims.

Several major takeovers have occurred in the Premier League in recent seasons, with clubs such as Chelsea, Newcastle United, and more recently Everton acquiring new owners.

It is now being speculated that yet another English top-flight club could be the subject of a significant takeover.

The owner of the electric car manufacturing company Tesla, Elon Musk, has expressed a desire to buy Liverpool, according to his father, Errol Musk.

"Does your son want to buy Liverpool Football Club?" Errol Musk was asked during an interview on Times Radio.

He responded: "I can't comment on that; they'll raise the price.

"Oh yes, [he has expressed a desire], but that doesn't mean he's buying it."

Liverpool are currently owned by the Fenway Sports Group, who took over the team as sole owners in 2011.

When asked further if buying Liverpool was something his son is seriously considering, Errol Musk added: "He would like to, yes, obviously. Anybody would want to – so would I.

"His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool, and we were fortunate to know quite a few of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family.

"So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know."
