Cristiano Ronaldo broke an impressive record as Portugal began life under Roberto Martinez with a big in the European Championship qualifying action on Thursday night.
The Al-Nassr made history just by stepping on the pitch as he became the men's all-time leader in international caps with 197 for Selecao.
Martinez's charges wasted no time in making their intensions clear as Joao Cancelo opened the scoring after just eight minutes with a deflected strike from distance.
The lead was doubled two minutes after the halftime break, with Bernardo Silva finding the back of the net with a neat finish from inside the box,
The man of the moment, Ronaldo, got his name on the score-sheet in the minutes later after converting a penalty following Jens Hofer's foul on Bernardo Silva.
Ronaldo would go on to round off the scoring in the 63rd minute with a powerful free-kick that gave goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel no chance.
Martinez's troops will now turn their attention to Sunday's qualifier against Luxembourg, as they look to maintain their winning start in Group J.
Italy 1-2 England
England made a winning start in Group C after defeating Italy 2-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Gareth Southgate's men got off to the perfect start when when Declan Rice opened the scoring on 13 minutes with a volley from ten yards out after the Italians failed to deal with a corner.
The visitors were then awarded a penalty just before the halftime break after Video Assistant Referee (VAR) check for a handball. Harry Kane stepped up and calmly converted to put England two goals.
In doing so, Kane also became the Three Lions' all-time leading with scorer with 54 goals, surpassing Wayne Rooney's tally of 53.
Mateo Retegui pulled a goal back for the Italians ten minutes after the halftime break with a composed finish into the bottom corner.
It was a nervy finish to the encounter for England, who had Luke Shaw sent off in the 80th minute for picking up his second yellow card.
Southgate's men would go on to hold out for the win, which was their first competitive victory away to Italy since 1961.
