One more chance for Mokwena after crunch talks?

Wydad Athletic Club's hierarchy have reportedly set a new mandate to Rulani Mokwena's future as head coach of the record Moroccan champions.

It seemed as though the South African tactician was turning the North African outfit's fortunes around after securing back-to-back league wins against OC Safi and JS Soualem, marking the first time the Johannesburg native had achieved this feat in the top flight.

Since the 3-0 victory over the latter, however, the 37-year-old has gone three consecutive matches without a win, with their most recent result being a massive 4-1 loss to MAS Fes.

This poor run of form has seen pressure mount on the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss, but according to Kooora, the president of the Red Castle, Hicham Ait Menna, has decided to give Mokwena one last chance to prove he can deliver consistent results.

It was reported that Mokwena held a crunch meeting with the club's board this week where the club and coach seemingly agreed to appoint a Moroccan assistant coach and performance analyst.

The three-time African champions are expected to be active in the transfer market, which reopened earlier this week with players such as Reda Slim have been linked with the club.

Who the Casablanca-based side ultimately sign remains to be seen, but their reinforcements will be vital in their quest to climb the Botola Pro Inwi standings.

The same report claims that Mokwena will need to justify his position as Wydad boss by securing three successive victories in the league, beginning with their upcoming match against Moghreb Atletico Tetouan.
