As Bafana Bafana prepare to take on Ivory Coast in their opening Group D match this evening, snl24.com/kickoff looks at the players who have survived since the last time the team participated in 2015.
Darren Keet
The player who looks set to leave Bidvest Wits at the end of this month started Bafana's opening match against Algeria in 2015, conceding three as Bafana suffered defeat. He did not get to feature in the remaining two group matches, as Shakes Mashaba used different goalkeepers in each game. He will be looking to play all the matches this time.
Thulani Hlatshwayo
Now captain of the national team, Hlatshwayo started Bafana's first two group matches against Algeria and Senegal, but he was taken off after 30 minutes when the team met the Lions of Teranga due to injury. He missed the final group match against Ghana.
Sibusiso Vilakazi
Vila started the matches against Algeria and Senegal, and then came on as a substitute in the final round robin encounter against the Black Stars.
Dean Furman
Furman captained the team during the 2015 AFCON and played 90 minutes in all matches. He's one of Stuart Baxter's key men in the current side and it would come as no surprise if he featured in all the matches during the competition.
Themba Zwane
The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder made Shakes Mashaba's 23-man squad for the competition, but did not see any action at all as Bafana were knocked out at the first hurdle. There's a good chance he will play all of Bafana's matches in Egypt.
