Bongani Zungu, Hlompho Kekana, Sibusiso Vilakazi were all afforded starts in midfield at the expense of Kamohelo Mokotjo, Lebogang Maboe and the injured Dean Furman.

South Africa's first goal of Egypt 2019 seemed to calm the nerves as the likes of Tau and former Mamelodi Sundowns teammate Thema Zwane looked more threatening as the game wore on.

"I think it was a beter performance, we applied what we missed in the previous match [Ivory Coast] and we are happy that we scored from a set-piece," Tau said after the game.
"It was a difficult match, they put a lot of numbers up front especially after we scored, we tried to come back and be as close as we could so that we're always close to each other when we attack so I think that was working for us quite well.
"Even though there were alot of tied legs at the end, we pushed very hard and credit to the team for the three points."

"It's a work in progress for the whole team and we are just proud that it was on our side, we were better in attack even though we didn't take most of them but yeah I'm just happy," Tau said.
"I'm only focused on the games that we have here, the rest of the things [finding a new club] is easy to sort."
