Africa Cup of Nations match report Cameroon v Ghana

Ghana were denied their first victory at this year's Africa Cup of Nations finals after playing to a goalless draw with Cameroon on Saturday.

Collins Fai, Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik, Gaetan Bong and Clinton N'jie returned for the defending champions, while Kwadwo Asamoah, Baba Rahman and Jonathan Mensah were re-called for Ghana.

The changes didn't seem to affect the Ghanaians, as Thomas Partey threatened a 10th minute opener with a shot from close-range. A substitution as early as the 14th minute through injury seemed to disrupt their rhythm, with Christian Atsu replaced by Samuel Owusu.

The Cameroonians though remained under pressure near the half-hour mark, with Owusu and Jordan Ayew going close to breaking the deadlock.

Cameroon grew stronger towards halftime, with Karl Toko-Ekambi closing in from a corner while Richard Ofori denyingClinton N'jie close to the area.

There was a slight upward of play from the Ghanaians at the start of the second half, whilst the Cameroonians reacted slowly. Ghana's Owusu looked for the top corner after 55 minutes from a low pass, but Andre Onana reacted sharply to smother the effort.

The second change of the game saw Cameroon bringing on Eric Choupo-Moting for Bong with 74 minutes gone, while The Black Stars brought on their second switch four minutes later in veteran Asamoah Gyan who replaced Asamoah.

Ghana came within touching distance to the winner when Kwabena Owusu rattled the woodwork three minutes from time after breaking through the defence, but the encuonter ended all square as the Indomitable Lions remain top of Group F.
