Africa Cup of Nations match report Guinea v Madagascar

Madagascar grabbed their first point at an Africa Cup of Nations holding Guinea to a 2-2 draw on Saturday evening.

Guinea made a promising start to the encounter in the opening minutes, with Francois Kamano edging close to the opener with a curling shot from the right.

Kamano posed another scare after 26 minutes, with a header from a low-medium corner cleared off the goal-line.

The West Africans rallied on and found their just rewards after 34 minutes when Sory Kaba turned the defence to slot into an empty net.

The Islanders, meanwhile,  grabbed their first-ever Afcon goal two minutes in to the second half when Anicet Abel wired through a sea of bodies to head home.

Madagascar went ahead after 55 minutes when Carolous Andrea brought down a long ball to dink over Kamara.

Guinea introduced their star man Naby Keita after 61 minutes, with Moby Camaria making way with the come back off the mark.

The Guineans levelled after 66 minutes with a cool penalty conversion from Kamano following a foul on Kamara.

Presumably this set the tone for the match, with neither outfit able to find the necessary penetrative moves in the defensive hall, as the two sides settled for a draw.
