Africa Cup of Nations match report Tunisia v Angola

Tunisia and Angola played to a 1-1 draw in their Group E Africa Cup of Nations opener in Suez on Monday.

In the opening five minutes, Tunisia posed the first danger after Wahbi Khazri ran through to a long ball but Tony Cabaca smothered effectively.

Angola responded with their first attempt three minutes later from Djalma Campos, but Tunisian shot-stopper Ben Mustapha collected safely.

The Carthage Eagles seized control after 34 minutes with a stupendous spot-kick from Youssef Msakni following a foul on Naim Sliti.

Tunisia maintained dominion despite bits of pressure from the visitors, thus bringing the half to a close.

Right before the restart, Angola made a double substitution in Geraldo and Gelson with Stelvio and Wilson Eduardo making way.

Still, Angola battled to get going despite the offensive adjustments while the Tunisians looked troubling at every turn. Tunisia started making changes on 69 minutes with the lead intact, with Ferjani Sassi coming in for Ghaylene Chaalali.

The Palancas Negras levelled the contest 73 minutes in when Djalma slashed home after poor goalkeeping from Mustapha. Allan Giresse's though side nearly restored the lead after 81 minutes, but Khazri's effort skimmed past the left-hand post.

In the final minute, Msakni looked for his brace from the edge of the area but his attempt failed to beat Cabaca as the game ended all square.
