Arthur Zwane lays out South African football's problems

Arthur Zwane believes pointing fingers will never solve South African football's problems as the country keeps failing to deliver in big tournaments.

South African national teams have been struggling to produce the best football despite being amongst the top countries with a great league on the continent.

Zwane, who is a youth coach at Kaizer Chiefs, believes the only solution to sort out our challenges is to do the right things, plan, implement and face our issues, and stop pointing fingers.

"There's so many things that are lacking in our football. The unfortunate part is we keep on blaming each other, pointing fingers and not taking responsibility," Zwane said.

"In certain positions we say some people don't deserve to be there, yet we do doing nothing. To be quite honest it's a mess. Instead of growing as a country with resources, we are not growing at all. Other countries with fewer tools are catching up and they are very close."

Zwane, who recently visited Ireland to do his B coaching licence, says the country should move with time, the game has changed and the fact that we are struggling with strikers shows the seriousness of our problems.

"One of the few examples, we haven't had a South African top goalscorer in our league for a while. That alone tells us we have a serious problem, so it is a worrying factor," he added.

"Too many players should be playing overseas but because of not understanding the game well, we are cheating our boys as coaches. We are not moving with the times in terms of coaching."
