Bafana Bafana assistant coach Molefi Ntseki has provided an update on the team's progress in Dubai, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Bafana have travelled to Dubai to take on Ghana in an international friendly to be played on Saturday at 17h30 South African time.
"We travelled well from South Africa to Dubai. When I look back I can see that there is a lot of improvement in terms of our team preparation going to the AFCON tournament. We also need to understand that preparing for a one match qualifier is different from preparing for a tournament, whereyou are likely to play more than five matches in a space of 30 or 20 days, so the preparation has to be spot on," Ntseki said.
"We came back from intensive league matches. Some of them played more than 30, 40 matches and some played in the Champions League, so in our loading and physical conditioning the fitness trainer has to look into that. But at the same time you can't say you had enough time to prepare. As a coach you are always looking for more days, more hours, more minutes to prepare the team. But we are where we are because of structured preparation."
Ntseki believes the heat in Dubai will prepare them for the scorching conditions in Egypt.
"We'll be having three sessions before we play a friendly against Ghana. It's boiling hot here, but what else can we do? This is what we are expecting to come up against in Egypt, because we are told it will be very hot there during the tournament."
