Bafana Bafana climb in June 2019 FIFA Rankings

Bafana Bafana are headed into the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on the up and up in the latest FIFA world rankings released today.

Bafana have risen one spot in the June 2019 rankings – taking them to 72nd spot in the world, but remain 14th on the continent as this year's AFCON campaign looms.

Despite having last been in action in March, when they defeated Libya in their final qualifier for the continental showpiece, with FIFA not taking the COSAFA Cup into account, South Africa have now equalled their best position from last year, during which they went unbeaten.

With a tough campaign awaiting, it will be up to Stuart Baxter's men to prove their capability of rising even further up the rankings, with a Top-10 space in Africa now just nine position away.

Propping up the best 10 nations on the continent is Mali, who are currently in 62nd position - joint with Bafana's AFCON Group D rivals Ivory Coast, while leaders Senegal have risen one spot into 22nd.

Bafana's other group opponents Morocco have dropped two spots in 47th, while Namibia have remained in 113th.
