Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter says he does not care about the criticism he gets

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has commented on whether or not the outcome of the Africa Cup of Nations last-16 clash against Egypt will have a say on his future.

Baxter has come in for some criticism during the AFCON, despite the team progressing to the last round of 16. Bafana managed just one win in the group stages, and lost twice.

Baxter's future with the senior national team could be on the line if Bafana do not win against the hosts at Cairo International Stadium tonight.

"Stuff the criticism up your a*#e, because I don't care. About 0.1 percent of my self-esteem is affected by that. But I've made my mind up of what I'm doing, so if people want me sacked afterwards, then that's up to them. They may be getting ahead of themselves," Baxter said ahead of tonight's clash.

Safa president Danny Jordaan, meanwhile, wished the team luck.

"What is important now for all of us as the Rainbow Nation is, to heed the call by the Honourable State President to rally behind the team and give them enough support to cause what could perhaps be the biggest upset of the tournament by beating the hosts. I am certain that the team will emerge stronger against Egypt and shine on the continent, as many South Africans would like to see. Good luck to coach Stuart Baxter and his troops and we assure them that the whole country is behind them."
