Bafana Bafana irked by Angola's last-minute withdrawal

Bafana Bafana were left irked by Angola's failure to honour a pre-arranged friendly in the build-up to AFCON, with manager Barney Kujane providing context.

Bafana were scheduled to face the Sable Antelopes in their final warm-up match ahead of the start of the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday afternoon in Cairo.

However, the match was called off at the 11th hour as Angola cited a lack of training since they arrived in the cty two days prior, much to the dismay of the South Africans.

Team manager Barney Kujane has since explained that all was set to go ahead on Tuesday afternoon, when they met with Angolan officials to map out the rules of the friendly, only for them to go cold turkey hours before the game.

"We are disappointed and frustrated. We had arranged this match three weeks ago and Angola confirmed everything in writing," explained Kujane.

"We even had a meeting with their technical staff at our hotel yesterday afternoon [Tuesday, 18 June 2019], in which both teams reconfirmed the match and agreed on the rules of the practice game."

This left Stuart Baxter's charges to play yet another 'match' amongst themselces at the Aero Sports Centre, as they prepare to face Ivory Coast in their AFCON opener on Monday.

Bafana have only played one friendly since assembling in Johannesburg nearly two weeks ago, and have had their preparations marred by lack of organisation in regards to this.
