Bafana Bafana midfielder Dean Furman feels they can handle the heat in Egypt

Bafana Bafana midfielder Dean Furman feels their camp in Dubai has done a lot to prepare them for the conditions in Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bafana spent a week in Dubai, playing a practice match against West African giants Ghana over the weekend, which finished goalless. The match had to be moved to a later time due to the heat, which is what they are expected to experience in Egypt, with scorching conditions.

"We've been waiting to get here for a long time. The pre-camp has been very good and going to Dubai was great for us because of the heat factor. We really got used to the heat and the good thing is that it's probably 10 degrees cooler here, so hopefully that issue can be put to one side now," Furman said.

"There's good spirit and there's a good AFCON vibe here in Egypt, we got a nice welcome and I think the excitement is starting to build amongst the players and staff.

Furman feels there were a lot of positives that came out of the Ghana match, but they are aware that there are still some areas that need to be worked on before taking on Ivory Coast in their opening match on Monday.

"We started the game very well. We were playing against a top side in Africa, with some top players who are playing in the best leagues in the world. There was a lot of positives, but there's also a lot of things to work on. We watched the video and we found areas where we can improve and we've taken those things into our training sessions."
