Darren Keet perplexed by how Bafana Bafana are being underrated

Bafana Bafana have had their fair share of slip-ups in recent times, but they are ready to surprise the nation, according to goalkeeper Darren Keet.

Bafana's Africa Cup of Nations preparations are in full swing as they are just days away from trimming the provisional squad to their final 23 and depart for phase two of their camp.

With the tournament now just two weeks away from kick-off, the spirit from within the country has yet to reflect the support for the national team, who depart on Monday.

Nonetheless, Keet rates the present pool of 26 players quite highly and expressed perplexity at how many are doubting their chances of doing well in Egypt.

"I think we've got such a good squad at the moment, and we're so underrated – it's ridiculous," said 'Popeye'.

"But, we're happy with that. We're happy to be underrated; we're happy that people doubt us because every game we go out and show ourselves and show what we're capable of.

"Even the boys that are playing locally, the league continues to grow, and the players overseas continue to grow, and when they come back it mixes things up and makes us better.

"Everyday we train or play a game, we try and get better, so we're trying to improve and if other people don't look at it that way then we'll surprise them all."
