Ex-Sundowns winger Toni Silva named in Guinea Bissau final 23-man AFCON squad

Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Toni Silva has been named in the final Guinea Bissau squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.   Silva departed South Africa in controversial circumstances when he penned and open letter about his stint at the Brazilians after joining Ittihad of Alexandria in the January transfer window.   While he was quite vocal of his struggles for game time under head coach Pitso Mosimane, his fortunes has not changed in Egypt with only 394 minutes of first-team football.   In seven Egyptian Premier League games, the former Liverpool attacker failed to score a single goal while registering two assists and his last appearance for the club came on April 2 against Al Ahly.   The squad selected by manager Baciro Candé holds a heavy contingent from Portugal, with ten of the 23 players based in Southern Europe.   Djurtus are in Group F alongside African champions Cameroon, Ghana and Benin.   Guinea Bissau squad in full:   Goalkeepers: Jonas Mendes (Académico Viseu), Rui Dabó (Fabril), Edimar Vieira Cá (UDIB)   Defenders: Rudinilson Silva (Kaunas Zal), Marcelo Djaló (Fulham) Juary Soares (Mafra), Mamadú Candé (Santa Clara), Tomas Dabó (Riete), Nanú Gomes (Marítimo), Eliseu Nadjack Soares (Rio Ave)   Midfielders: Sori Mané (Cova da Piedade), Mamadu Tunkara Pelé (Mónaco), Zezinho Lopes (Senica), Jorge Bura Norgueira (Aves), João Jaquité (Tondela), Moreto Cassamá (Reims)   Forwards: Jorginho Intima (CSKA Sofia), Piqueti Djassi (Al Shoulla), Toni Silva (Ittihad of Alexandria), Mama Baldé (Aves), Romário Baldé (Académica), Frédéric Mendy (Vitória Setúbal), Joseph Mendes (Ajaccio)
