Hlompho Kekana believes the Africa Cup of Nations will give Percy Tau a chance to showcase his talent

The Africa Cup of Nations will be the perfect platform for Percy Tau to showcase his talent, according to Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana.

Kekana played with Tau at Sundowns before the 25-year-old was signed by English Premier League club Brighton Hove and Albion, who then loaned him out to Belgian second tier club Royale-Union Saint-Gilloise.

The Witbank born player, who recentl recevied the backing of Arsneal legend Ian Wright, won the Proximus Player of the Year award and now has another opportunity to show the world what he can do in the AFCON, set to be played in Egypt this month.

Kekana would like to see Tau, who scored twice against Libya in March to help Bafana qualify for AFCON, performing well and testing himself against some of the best players in Africa.

"We have to compete and give performances in matches and this is a tournament where we need to try and test ourselves as players and there are younger players like Percy who needs to be in that space. This is the right time to test him," Kekana said.

Bafana are in Group D with Morocco, Ivory Coast and Namibia. They open their campaign with West African giants Ivory Coast, knowing that they need a good start to give themselves a chance of progressing to the knockout phase.

"It's easy to talk, but you have to perform to get those points. We can't be naïve at a tournament like this. We want to be united and try work on one goal, which is to make sure we win our matches and get out of the group."
