Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp provides Sadio Mane update

With the 2019/20 Premier League campaign set to commence in August, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed when Sadio Mane, whose Senegal suffered a 1-0 loss to Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations final in Egypt on Friday, could return to action for the Reds.

The 2018/19 EPL runners-up will do duty in the opening match of the new league season on Friday, 9 August, against newly-promoted Norwich City at Anfield.

The UEFA Champions League holders' first clash of the new campaign will see them face EPL champions Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on 4 August, but the club will have to do so without the services of Mane, who has been granted an extended leave after his country reached the Afcon final.

The Reds took to their official website to confirm that Mane will link up with Liverpool on Monday, 5 August, a day after their Community Shield clash against Pep Guardiola's charges.

"He is in good shape," Klopp said, as per the club's official website.

"He is now on holiday, not the longest onehe will be back on 5 August, after the Manchester City game.

"That means two weeks. There is four or five days to prepare for Norwich, 10 days for Chelsea."
