Mali star banished from 2019 Africa Cup of Nations squad for attacking captain

Mali have become the latest team at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to expel a player after striker Adama Niane was banished from the national team camp for allegedly attacking captain Abdoulay Diaby.

As per Footmali, Niane, 26, was sent packing from the national team for slapping teammate and captain Diaby. It has been claimed that the altercation transpired at the hotel the Mali national team are staying in.

With the squad having reportedly requested the services of a barber, when he arrived, Diaby is believed to have sat in his chair, which incensed Niane and prompted the Belgium-based attacker to attack and slap his captain.

Diaby will head back to Mali's base in Cairo, and is then set to take a plan back home. The incident comes just days after Egypt banned Amr Warda for allegedly sexually harassing a number of women online.

The Pharaohs have subsequently made a U-turn on their decision to ban Warda, however, and he has since returned to the Egyptian national team camp.
