Mamelodi Sundowns and Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango ready to face familiar foes in the Zimbabwean national team

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango is focused ahead of meeting some familiar foes in the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as a former teammate who now plays for Kaizer Chiefs.

Uganda, who stunned DR Congo with a 2-0 win over the weekend in a Group A encounter, take on Zimbabwe on Wednesday in their second match of the competition. Onyango will be looking to keep another clean sheet and deny his Premier Soccer League rivals such as Evans Rusike, Ovidy Karuru and Khama Billiat, a former teammate of his at Sundowns.

The Ugandans currently top the Group A standings ahead of hosts Egypt, a side they play against in their final round robin clash. While many would expect Uganda to have one eye on that final group match against Egypt, Onyango says they are fully focused on the Zimbabwe clash. A win could all but seal their spot in the knockout stage.

"We're not focusing on the third game against Egypt as our focus is on the Zimbabwe game because it's a really good team," said Onyango during a press conference in Egypt.

"We don't want to talk about Egypt's game, because we're entering a very tough game against Zimbabwe and that's the game that matters for us now.

"When we'll face Egypt it'll be also very hard but we need to take tomorrow's game seriously.

"It's good to play against familiar side, we know how to protect our goal and not concede goals," he concluded.
