Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango confirms players have resolved money issues with the Ugandan football association

The Ugandan national team has resolved issues regarding payment at the Africa Cup of Nations and have started preparing for their last-16 clash against Senegal.

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper and Ugandan captain Denis Onyango, who is fit to play again after he was taken off in Uganda's final group match against Egypt, says they have resolved issues involving money and they were back in training on Wednesday to start preparing for the AFCON clash against the Lions of Teranga at Cairo International Stadium on Friday.

The Ugandan players refused to train on Tuesday while the issues of money was getting resolved. According to media reports in Uganda, the players were demanding bonuses for their win and draw against DR Congo and Zimbabwe respectively.

"We had issues but we resolved them as a team because these are issues that happen anyway. It's like in the family where you have problems. Unfortunately in football, it's money issues. However, these were resolved and we were back in training yesterday [Wednesday] and we're looking at the game ahead of us," Onyango said during a press conference.

"We've got a nation to fight for and we've got Ugandans back home that are looking up to us. We're just focusing on our game at the moment and have forgotten our past with the federation."
