Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez opens up about Mohamed Salah comparisons

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has opened up about the comparisons made of him and Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah.

Both players play their football in England and have been crowned PFA Player of the Year in their careers. They are left-footed and are deadly when going forward.

Mahrez, the Manchester City winger, has now admitted he did not know much about Salah before he came to the Premier League, but added that he's done extremely well in his two seasons with Liverpool so far.

"I am not bothered at all [with comparisons with Salah]. I hadn't known Salah well before he came to the Premier League. That said, the two seasons he played in England were exceptional," Mahrez told Al Kass.

"He deserves all what he achieved. Regarding the comparisons, I don't follow what goes on the internet a lot. There are several Arab players playing for big clubs and it's normal they get compared to each other and this is a good thing.

"I hope to see more Arab players in Europe. Now we [Mahrez and Salah] are with our national teams and we will see who will help his side more in reaching further stages [in AFCON 2019]."

Both players will be in action during the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, which kicks off today.
