In this edition of My Dream Team, KickOff speaks to former Premier Soccer League coach Mlungisi Ngubane who selects his own Africa Cup of Nations team of the tournament.
Ngubane gives an in-depth analysis of the recently concluded tournament in Cote d'Ivoire, where the host nation secured their third title.
Ngubane questions the selection of some of the AFCON stars and mentions players he believes should have been picked instead.
CAF TEAM OF THE TOURNAMENT
GK: Ronwen Williams
"Good choice. He deserves to be there."
Centre Backs: William Troost-Ekong Chancel Mbemba
"Here I think the selectors went for physically strong players, they were not looking for intelligence.
"But we can't blame them, that's what Africans believe in. We are different from them as we mostly rely on skill.
"Otherwise I would have put Grant Kekana next to Ekong from Nigeria. I think Kekana did very well in this tournament. The red card was unfortunate."
Full-Backs: Ola Aina Ghislain Konan
"Konan was a very strong player in this tournament. He deserves to be there.
"As for Aina, it's a no-no-no. It should have been Khuliso Mudau or Achraf Hakimi. Those two they can play football, they can attack and they can defend."
Midfielders: Teboho Mokoena, Jean Michael Seri, Franck Kessie
"I'd take Kessie out and put that jersey number 10 from Angola [Gelson Dala]. That boy is good. He was very impressive for Angola. He was scoring goals for Angola.
"As for Seri I like what he did for his nation, I have no complaints. One of Ivory Coasts' best performers in this AFCON."
Wingers: Yoane Wissa Ademola Lookman
"Wissa is another good choice, he did well. And Lookman is another one I'm happy with, although Nigeria used him as an attacking midfielder, not a winger.
Striker: Emilio Nsue
"You can't leave a top goalscorer out. He is 34 years old but he knows how to score. He scored some important goals for Guinea. Although he missed an important penalty."
Coach: Emerse Fae (Cote d'Ivoire)
"This one only took over after the tournament had already begun. He was only there for damage control. I'm not sure if he could have qualified the team if he was the head coach from the beginning.
"I feel the Nigerian coach deserves the crown though, it is very difficult to manage the Nigerian players, they have egos. But that coach managed.
"If not the Nigerian coach, then I will give it to Hugo Broos, even though having many Mamelodi Sundowns players helped him a lot."
