Sadio Mane makes huge Africa Cup of Nations claim

Ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final between Algeria and Senegal, Liverpool and Lions of Teranga superstar Sadio Mane has made a huge admission about the Afcon title.

Mane, 27, will be hoping to guide Senegal to their first-ever Afcon title when they face Riyad Mahrez's Algeria in the Afcon final at the Cairo International Stadium tonight.

The Lions of Teranga's previous best result in the tournament came in 2002, when they reached the final but ultimately suffered heartbreak at the hands of Cameroon, who clinched a fourth Afcon title courtesy of a 3-2 victory on penalties.

Speaking ahead of his team's all-important clash, Mane boldly claimed that he would gladly swap the UEFA Champions League final victory over Tottenham Hotspur for an Afcon triumph over the Desert Foxes.

"For sure, I would be ready (to swap), even today," he said, as per BBC Football.

"We know it won't be easy, but it's normal, it's part of football. Algeria is a great team and now I'm just looking forward to playing in the final and to win it."

Clinching the Afcon title in Egypt would make a compelling case for the 2018/19 joint-Premier League Golden Boot winner to be crowned the first African Ballon d'Or winner since George Weah achieved the feat in 1995.
