Folz admits Mhango 'could have done better' in MTN8 final defeat

AmaZulu head coach Romain Folz admitted attacker Gabadinho Mhango could have performed better in Saturday's MTN8 final defeat to Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Mhango was fortunate to remain on the pitch after a nasty studs-up challenge on Nkosinathi Sibisi that forced the Pirates defender off injured.

The Buccaneers made an enforced substitution in the first minute as Sibisi was replaced by Paseka Mako.

Mhango was later also booked for a cynical handball as he nudged the ball past an on-rushing Richard Ofori in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage.

"He can definitely do better than he did tonight," Folz said post-match on Mhango's performance.

"I don't think it's a matter of them knowing how to contain him, and how to deal with him, I think our overall offensive formation was not dynamic enough.

"Him [Mhango] included, there are a lot of factors that can explain why and there were some other points that will keep private.

"But I know where to work with him, especially during the [World Cup] break.

"I am expecting him to develop himself in those departments which again remain private so that he comes back to help us much more when the league resumes.

"There are a lot of things to work on during the break, yes when it comes to Gaba, he could have done better for sure.

"But he is not the only one, many of the guys could have done better tonight."
