AmaZulu legend: Zungu is still learning

AmaZulu FC legend Mlungisi Ngubane says the club's current president Sandile Zungu's latest actions proves he is still learning.

Asked how possible was it that Usuthu who had just extended Romain Folz's contract and changed their squad to his requests, and now relieved him of his duties.

Though he recently signed a three-year deal, Folz has now been redeployed to the role of technical director.

Folz's assistant Ayanda Dlamini will now serve as a caretaker coach until the end of the season.

"I hear they've made him technical director, but what is it that Folz is going to advise Ayanda Dlamini when he failed to implement it himself?" Ngubane tells KickOff.

"And what is it that Dlamini can do now that he failed to advise Folz when he was his assistant?

"If you are working together and you fail, you should both be accountable.

"Unless Folz didn't want to listen to him, because Folz acted as a know it all when he is just 33-years-old.

"I have more experience in football than Folz. The big win against Chiefs should be credited to the players, they wanted to prove a point against Chiefs.

"I think Zungu is learning, so let him learn how it is in football. There's nothing that Folz can advise Dlamini with.

"They just have to release him, if he can't do what he was hired for they must just release him.

"Sometimes it's dangerous to work with people who will tell you what you want to hear.

"They gave Folz a three-year contract but no one from the management questioned what he had done.

"Since he's been here, he hasn't won four games in a row.

"To be fair Zungu did give this guy support and allowed him to do his own thing.

"It's difficult for a 33-year-old to come and coach a 35, 37-year-old.

"I cannot blame Zungu but the people who are around him. Whoever is advising him is somebody who is telling him what he wants to hear.

"But he is going to learn Zungu, this is his second season. One day he will understand being an agent doesn't mean you know football. He must be careful with agents.

"But AmaZulu they are too big to be coached by a 33-year-old. You can't buy experience.

"Zungu should have been more patient with Benni McCarthy. They should have beefed up his technical team."
