AmaZulu midfielder George Maluleka has been elected as the deputy secretary general of the South African Football Players Union [Safpu] in an unprecedented move for the football organisation.
Maluleka was named alongside several other prominent names at Safpu' congress that was held in Cape Town.
Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe retained his position as the organisation's president, Tebogo Monyai [vice president], Thabiso Nkoana [second vice president], Nhlanhla Shabalala [secretary general], Zama Dlamini [TG].

Siyabonga Dubula, Tshepo Mamabolo, Samuel Julies, Wiseman Maluleka were included as additional members.
Maluleka replaces Calvin Motloung as the deputy secretary general in a new era for the organisation.
"The congress went well, we had a two-day conference which was well attended, and proved a success," Gaoshubelwe tells KickOff.
"Electing George Maluleka is actually a demonstration that players are participating in their own organisation. Contrary to the belief that suggests players do not show interest in their own futures.
"So, we are very excited with the new leadership that has been elected."
Gaoshubelwe clairfied Motloung's situation following his exit from his previous role.
"We have the leadership that gets elected at the congress, and that leadership has to take the mandate of the organisation in a manner that the organisation mandates and deal with them," Gaoshubelwe added.
"So, to the extent that you've been asked to do some responsibility, you should take them within that particular whole thing.
"And we do not decide as a leader, the people who decide are the people who went to the congress.
"If you go to a congress, it becomes a democratic process, people can choose whomever they deem fit."
