Human ready to shine again

AmaZulu FC midfielder Rowan Human is hoping for a fresh start and a chance to show his quality under new head coaches Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

The creative midfielder was signed by AmaZulu at the start of last term on the back of a sensational personal season with Maritzburg United.

While the Team of Choice got relegated, Human, alongside Karim Kimvuidi and Bradley Cross, was one of the standout players in the team and had already been tipped for a big move long before the side dropped down a division.

Kimvuidi, meanwhile, was snapped up by Orlando Pirates, while their arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs' pursuit of Human happened at a snail's pace, leaving room for Usuthu AmaZulu to pounce on his signature.

The 23-year-old endured a frustrating campaign under head coach Pablo Franco Martin, featuring just 11 times as Usuthu stumbled to an 11th-place finish.

The start of the new season presented similar problems with AmaZulu losing all three of their opening Betway Premiership matches, prompting the club's hierarchy to part company with the Spaniard along with his assistant Aitor Van Den Brule.

Since then, Arthur Zwane and Vilakazi have been roped in, bringing about a sense of renewed hope around camp and for Human.

"Personally, the pre-season preparations were very good compared to the situation I was in last season," responded Human when asked about his situation by KickOff at the launch of the Carling Knockout.

"It's a bit different now, I've been working on myself also. It was a good pre-season personally and I feel like it's just being patient with yourself and [to] keep working.

"In the games we have played, even though we have not gotten the results, if you watch you will see that we create a lot of chances in the games, chances where we are supposed to score, but the ball is just not going into the back of the net.

"I think that's the difference between us not getting points; it's just that we haven't been converting our chances, but we have created chances in most of the games we played," he added.

Human could get his first chance to impress when the KwaZulu-Natal side host Stellenbosch FC in the Last 16 of the Carling Knockout on Friday.

Kick-off at King Zwelithini Stadium is at 19:00.
