AmaZulu suffer injury blow ahead of Sundowns match

AmaZulu FC have been forced to leave behind one of their top stars ahead of their big match against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Usuthu have suffered a huge blow ahead of their visit to Loftus Versfeld Stadium where they will battle for three points against the defending champions.

KickOff has learned that striker Bongi Ntuli will not be able to kick a ball for a period of two months.

This is a huge blow for the KwaZulu-Natal club after their chairman Sandile Zungu made it clear at the beginning of the season that they will be challenging for honours.

With Augustine Kwem also on suspension following his red card against Chippa United, AmaZulu will now face Sundowns without a recognised target-man.

The match will be played at 15:00 on Sunday.

Though he found the net only once so far in the 2022/23 campaign, the 31-year-old has managed to make a total of eight appearances in all competitions.

The recurring foot injury has left Ntuli devastated.

"I'm not part of the team that is playing Mamelodi Sundowns, I'm injured." Ntuli tells KickOff.

"The injury happened on Wednesday.

"It happened at training. There's fracture on my foot I'm told I will have to sit out for the next two months.

"It's a similar injury to the one I had before, it's just that this one is not big.

"But it is still on the same foot.

"(Sighing) This is now becoming serious, just when I was starting to get my form back, now I might spend two months on the sidelines.

"But it seems I will heal quicker this time around."
